Starting an Online Business? Here Are 5 Overlooked Hacks To Help Grow Your Brand

Is your online business stalling and struggling to grow? Have low follower gain or engagement, even though you’ve got quality content?

Over the years, I’ve learned that there are a few ‘simple’, but (absolutely) essential quick hacks that are often overlooked and under valued. These variables, can easily turn your warm prospects into cold cucumbers (lol), so it’s important to be conscious of them and take stock of how to present them.

 – let’s get into it …

01.

The Brand is “YOU” ….

Seems like a no brainer right? Well, on the quest to being recognized as a leader, an authority, an influencer, or someone who is deemed ‘successful’ in their online business – this is very often a forgotten variable. As a newly proclaimed coach, consultant, freelancer or service provider:

“You are the most important, selling feature when it comes to your online brand”.

Your likes & interests, how you engage with your audience, what you do in your spare time as well as how make your prospects feel –   allow you to gain the trust of your audience or lose it in an instant.

How you engage with your audience, is just as important, as the content you create.

Your knowledge, thoughts, values and style, are infused within your content and the way you choose to present yourself to your newly budding audience.  Don’t be afraid to allow your personality showcase in your work.

This is why video content is highly ranked and most binged content across all platforms.

People, get to see “you” in person, hear and watch “you” discuss your interests, products/services and make connection with your style, passion and delivery.

🚀 Pro tip: If you’re new to creating videos, or trying to increase your video content creation, remember:

  • You are enough and there is someone looking for what you have to offer
  • When you’re true to yourself and authentic – it shows
  • Nobody, can discuss your business better than you can …
  • Practice makes perfect, focus on content quality – work on your delivery 🤩

02.

Get your Online Homes in Order ….

My group coaching clients hear this allot from me …

If you’ve gone to a networking event, or met an interesting contact, or have a referral – What’s the first thing you do before you reach out to them?”

You may go on a “Content Binge …”

  • You review their video content …
  • Review what they stand for online
  • What’s their messaging, and what are they known for?
  • How regularly are they online?
  • Where are they online?

Your content and posts need to speak to your ideal clients and directly …

Take a look at your online ‘profile(s)’ – they may need an overhaul or review for possible update.

03.

Be Deliberate With Your Content ….

In our quest to “be perfect“, or compare ourselves to those competing in our industry – we might be tempted to make excuses and delay posting ‘pre-planned’ content.  We get stuck in mind numbing beliefs … “It might not be good enough” … “this person has better content” … we veer off course and land in the “pit of procrastination” (it is a real place 🙄😲 ) or doom our very own content calendar and literally post nothing or we struggle with rushing our content, just so we can say it’s posted or done we struggle with rushing our content, just so we can say it’s posted or done.😒

Here are a few tips to help you work through this:

  • Layout: establish a standard for each of your social media platforms.  This will help you to get organized
  • Create themed posting calendar and stick with it so that you time is spent on this one area (with a start and end date & time). This can be especially helpful for those transitioning from employee into their online business.
  • Avoid Multi-tasking your way into un-productive days ….
  • Ensure that what you work on is relevant to your online goals and encapsulates a message that you think is important to be shared.

🚀 Pro tip: Bite sized content can really help those “Introverts” that are camera shy or transitioners that are content shy.

  • Does your content address a need?
  • Does it share information or encourage engagement?

04.

Be Process Driven ….

My right brain 🤔 thinkers may literally hate this tip (lol).

Create a true process for onboarding, offboarding and organizing your client data. Your clients are allowed to be disorganized … you are not!

Want to “repel” a new client or prospect? Be disorganized. It’s the worst feeling when you attempt to work with someone, and their process is scattered.

🚀 Pro tip:

  • When dealing with a prospect, a sure fire way to repel them is to not provide them with stability that comes from organization.
  • Welcome-kits a clear contract or statement of work for help to set the ground rules for working together, and establish a clearly defined contract of expectations.
  • Avoid lip service and overpromises. Create clearly defined milestones for working together and what you will be providing. This helps to clarify expectations and ensure that you’re always on the same page when it comes to deliverables.

Last, but definitely not least …

05.

Follow up & Follow Through …

This may sound a little harsh, but I myself have stopped working with people, due to large inconsistencies in what they say they’re going to do vs. what they actually do. Being consistent is an integral part of the way you convey how-you-work, when it comes to your brand.

🚀 Pro tip:
While there’s  no shortage on areas that can impact this, here are a few ways you can strive for growth:
  • Make learning something “new” an active part of your personal & online journey
  • Inconsistent social media activity (been guilty of this one)
  • Not following through on content creation
  • Not following up with your clients or prospects
  • Not delivering or updating your clients on where they’re work stands
  • Follow up and delivery is ‘everything’. Don’t get stuck on putting things off (on repeat).
