07 Oct Create Opportunity Series: 09 Define Your Lead Generation Strategy
With so many people recognizing the need to start an online business, they’ve recognized that their experience, talent and special skills are absolutely in demand to help others even if they’re still in a regular 9-5 and not “in it” full time or in it full time and learning as they go.
They made the commitment to learn how to start an online business from scratch.
Making the decision to “TRY” an entrepreneurial path, is a journey that takes commitment and perseverance, as even the most educated learn along the way, due to ever changing standards, applications and strategies that continue to evolve along the way.
Realizing soon after all that decision making, and online set up for their online presence – the need to tap into REAL lead generation strategies for growth is something that needs to happen daily so that you can build a pipeline that converts to REAL clients.
In this episode, we’re going to tap into just that … Lead Generation , and how to get your first client.
In this episode we’re going to look at the Lead Generation process based on how “Your Unique” service or solution and how it will help your target audience / prospect base. As I’ve mentioned in allot of my free training for startups – like ““More than Coffee – startup weekly chat””, it’s important that everything you do within your content, is geared towards your audience using your unique voice around what your audiences PAIN POINTS are as well as using strategies that play to your STRENGTHS.
Remember “You’re not for everyone” and as you begin to market and generate content engagement, you will quickly realize – there are people that’ll ‘get it’ and people that will prefer another ‘speak’ or resonate with someone else. In the end, understand that, that’s ok. Speak to YOUR audience authentically.
... the entrepreneurial path, is a journey that takes commitment and perseverance
Where do your strengths reside?
I love speaking to my audience …
I love writing to my audience …
Ok, I know that my client base is quite introverted – so when it comes to content they immediately go for written posts, blogs and articles because that’s essentially their first choice and where their overall comfort zone resides. (Yes, you know who you are …)
But I also have a handful of extroverts that can’t put the camera down – they love to share their message in video and online Live sessions because that’s easy for them and they enjoy it.
Disclaimer – online facts dictate that obviously video obtains a farther reach, and organic conversion …
As you become more strategic in your content, it’s important to save time and be impactful.
Benefits of video content: Video content allows you to create 2 types of content all at once. Video + podcast (YAY)!

Content can be a blend of:
- Video
- Podcast / Voice
- Image
- Text / Written
If video is not your strength – ease into it. You can create short videos around your written content to help you transition into video or to help you develop and get more experience around this. Creating ‘blended content’ of video and text can help you to move forward effectively as you step out of your comfort zone.
Create Content Around Helping Your Clients Solve a problem
My clients struggle with …
By creating content around helping your target audience solve an immediate problem you allow them to see that you understand their challenge. Give them an opportunity to ask a question or connect with you for more information
For many service based businesses a prospect needs time to make connection to who and what your offering, so your strategy needs to do this in a way that helps them, keeps them interested and showcases your understanding of solutions that work.
When creating your content define & select its purpose …
What do you hope to accomplish with what you’ve created?
- Attract
- Build Authority
- Inform
- Action
Add a dash of “flavor” in your content – showcase your personality …
Content Style (examples)
- Commercial
- Tonality / Speak (formal / casual)
- Infomercial
Types of Marketing:
- Blogging
- White Papers
- Articles
- Case Studies
- Info Graphics
- Audio
- Lead Magnet Content (e-books, guides, checklists, etc., – essentially free downloads)
